Elkes is an international standard hostel located in Darwin city center. It is distinguished by the traditional tropical style, elevated buildings (which survived the devastation of cyclone Tracy back in 1974) and huge trees with lush tropical gardens. After completing a major renovation in April 2007 the place looks fantastic with all new facilities including: beds, mattresses, bathrooms, TV room, games area.... the lot! Just 5 minutes walk to the central shopping district, Elkes is close enough to be convenient but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. So if you want to chill by the awesome swimming pool or hit the nightlife, Elkes is the place to stay.
